We have already told you about 10 features that will be gone in Windows 8. Now it’s high time to meet new features of Windows 8 and see their funny illustrations.

Metro Interface

Completely new design of Windows OS promises to have both lovers and haters. According to Microsoft the interface is optimized both for touchscreens and usual mouse and keyboard. However, only users themselves can decide whether it’s comfortable or not.
Recently Microsoft has replaced Metro term for Modern UI, because of the legal issues. Maybe the latter word is really better here. And this is how real metro interface could look like.

Charms Bar

Charms bar is a new menu bar on the right side of the screen which can be accessed from any application or the desktop. It includes functionality for search, file sharing, accessing the Start screen, managing devices, and settings. Honestly, the 1st thing that came to my mind when I heard «charms bar» was one of Harry Potter’s scene.

Picture Password

Now users can perform certain gestures (circles or lines) on a selected desktop picture to login. These gestures take into account the shape, the start and the end points. Looks pretty interesting, but if Microsoft made a login screen with names of famous painters and their masterpieces, it would definitely increase the knowledge of art! To log in to your account you should connect the name with the picture.

Fast Boot

Microsoft claims its new operating system starts up so fast, users will likely not have time “to trigger the boot menu before the Pc boots”. How fast will it be? Maybe 8 000 mph?

Windows Store

Definitely one of the most important new features of Windows 8 is Windows Store. Finally users can benefit from getting qualitative free and paid applications approved by Microsoft. Everything you need for this is to register an account for Windows Store. Hope Microsoft’s experience will be as successful as Apple’s one.

Storage Spaces

Storage Spaces is a storage virtualization technology which allows the organization of physical disks into logical volumes and helps the users control the available free space on a hard drive. All the spaces are organized within a storage pool, than can keep disks of different sizes, performance or technology.

Family safety

Family safety function allows Administrators to monitor and restrict user activity via web filtering, application restriction, and computer usage time limits. That means your kids will use safe application settings you select and won’t be able to open undesired sites.

Multi-monitor support

New Windows OS includes improved support for multi-monitor configurations. Each display can now show its own dedicated taskbar and task manager. Moreover, for those who can’t decide what wallpaper to choose there is an option to set separate wallpaper for each screen. I bet soon you can use a separate monitor for each application.
