Freemake Video Converter 2.1.1: FLV, shutdown, transitions, etc.

Freemake Video Converter 2.1.1 introduces a bundle of new features frequently requested by our users. The major improvements are FLV as an output format, export to iTunes after conversion to Apple devices, new preset for Apple TV.

Several changes are made to video joining. Now users can switch fade transition between video parts and merge files for YouTube upload or DVD/Blu-ray burning (click here to learn how to do this).

The new version also features the option of PC shutdown (after the process is completed) and the ability to pause/resume the conversion, burning, or uploading process. Moreover, now users can select audio and subtitles while editing a video or DVD in the DVD ripper and choose the location for a temp folder.

Let's examine these options one by one.

FLV output format

Now you can find one more format on the formats bar. One of the most requested features was to add FlV extension. And we finally did it. Be happy, web-developers and website owners.

From now on you can encode your files to FLV and upload them to your web-pages.

Everything you need to do is to:
Update Freemake utility;
Add media that you want to share with your visitors;
Select "to FLV" output format;
Choose a quality for your future film;
Transcode file to FLV.

The next step is to upload a ready media to your website.

Export to iTunes

If you have iPod, iPhone or iPad, you are likely to know that to add new files to your device; you need to first add them to iTunes. New Freemake utility version automatically adds your converted media to iTunes. Thus, you only need to connect your Apple device to your computer, run iTunes and sync the gadget with the PC. To enable this option, follow these steps:

Download a new version of Freemake;
Add your movies that you want to watch on your Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad;
Click "to MP4" option and select "Export files to iTunes";
Now choose your device model from drop-down menu;
And finally, save and export your clips to iTunes.

After that follow the regular steps to transfer files to your portable gadget. You may also convert MP4 to MP3 for your Apple device if necessary.

Transitions

If you combine clips on a regular basis, you'll like this option that will make your visuals look more professional.

The transition option will add a fade in and fade out effect to the media parts, so there won't be such a huge contrast in the moments when the files stick to each other.

PC shutdown

When you need to encode many heavy files, you do not have to sit and wait until the process finishes anymore. Updated Freemake app will shut down your PC automatically when your files are ready. Thus, you may leave the freeware to transcode your clips during night time.

To enable this feature, start the encoding process and mark the checkbox above the "Stop" button.

By the way, the new version also lets you pause your conversion process to be able to use the full capacity of your PC and resume them later.
