Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google for touchscreen gadgets like smartphones and tablets.

Android Inc. was founded by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Chris White, and Nick Sears in October 2003 in Palo Alto, California. At the very beginning, the founders wanted to develop an advanced OS for digital cameras. However, after having explored the market, they changed their minds and decided to create a rival to beat Microsoft Mobile platform and Symbian.

In July 2005, Google bought Android Inc together with its key employees. Andy Rubin got a developers team and created a mobile device operating system powered by the Linux kernel.

The 1st Android device was launched in September 2008.

Since that time, Android has been updated numerous times. The updates have improved the operating system overall performance, fixed bugs, and got new features.

Each major Android update is named in alphabetical order and after a sweet or dessert. For example, Android Cupcake or Android Donut.

The popularity of Google's Android platform has been growing rapidly in the recent times. Freemake keeps an eye on the last trends in the software market.

Now you can convert files to MP4 format using our new presets for Android devices. Music, videos, DVDs, and photos can be easily turned into the appropriate format and viewed on the mobile phones, tablet computers, and netbooks with the Android operating system.

Let's check how you can do it:

Update your Free Video Converter here: https://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/

Run the app on your Windows-supported PC or laptop

Add media files that you want to watch on your Android device. You can do it by moving the files into a software interface, by clicking the "+Video" button or by going to File – Video.

  • Click "to Android" green bubble on the formats panel
  • In a new window, click the drop-down menu and select your Android device
  • Then click the "Convert" button to encode your visual.

In case you did not find your device among the ready presets, you can create it manually.

  • Launch the software
  • Add your clips
  • Again, select "to Android" option
  • Now, click on the drop-down menu and select Add custom profile (at the bottom of the menu)

There will appear a new window with the settings. Check what exact parameters are supported by your device. Then insert them into the fields. You can change media codec, frame size to make your file resolution smaller. If you don't want to keep large files on your phone or tablet and thus lose free space, change the bitrate of your visual to make the file lighter. Please do not go too low to prevent movie quality loss.

When you finish with settings, type a name of your new profile and save it for future use. Next time you will simply need to choose among the available presets. You can add a preset for each device.

Then transcode the clip in a usual manner.

After that, connect your device to PC or laptop and move your new files to a device folder.
